I hate to be that guy, but the fonts on much of the numbered parts look off for a Mauser-Oberndorf produced rifle. They had a specific font that is common across a number of years, the tell tale sign for me being number 2's. The stock barrel chanel number looks fine, but the handguard looks restamped. The same goes for the bands, bolt and the floorplate/trigger guard. Hopefully some other guys here chime in with their thoughts. Here is an "h" block from the reference section.

Hopefully more people chime in but I can see what your meaning.

The safety should also be numbered unless it’s armory replaced, look for an inspection stamp on the other side. I don’t suspect that, considering the problem at hand but just a thought.

I agree, the 2 is the giveaway here. Oberndorf’s 2 stamps are a straight tail into the bottom, not curved like this.

Also the 7 should be straight not curved, you can see the filing marks on the front band and the rebluing :/

i just looked at the safety it’s not numbered but has a waa135 stamp on it

Are there any opportunities for full or partial refund? As a shooter I’d still value it at 7-800 or a little better now. Still presents well

But yeah I can see the filing now. Kinda sucks it’s not what I thought it was but that’s ok it will be my reenactor rifle now

Yeah, the front band coloring seemed off to me as well. It's a nice representation though of a Mauser-Oberndorf rifle and is technically correct in terms of what version parts were used. It's understandable how someone could be fooled as the renumbering seems well done to me (even though it sucks it was done at all...). It's the fine details that often get people on these rifles. Something the average person will overlook.

That's a fine shooter grade rifle, it looks the part and unless you're getting heavily into collecting them(quite expensive now) this would be that one good example to say you have one. Plus you can take it out shooting/use it without worrying about breaking a part on a true all matching example.

I saw you had the rifle up for sale as of 1:30 today. Did you plan on keeping it then or are you still selling it? You might want to edit the sales post accordingly to either mark it no longer for sale or adjust the price to be more on par with a shooter grade rifle.

I don’t plan on selling the rifle. Since I know what it is now. I’m not afraid to use it and will be using this for my Normandy 6th fallchirmjager regiment impression. I really appreciate the knowledge you guys shared with me!
