My Berlin Lübecker G41 1943 “5753 h”

I have only owned this rifle since November 2nd. It was purchased from a reliable source who also didn’t know there was an issue. This is a huge pill to swallow but unfortunately you are correct, sir. Upon my first disassembly of this rifle’s bolt this evening which was spurred by this conversation I have come to find that the components of the bolt (firing pin carrier, flapper locks, bolt body) are not matching to this rifle. Although this is tremendously depressing, this is what this forum is for. To learn. Thank you for the knowledge leading me to this discovery, you truly have a good eye.
Sorry to bring this to your attention, it is the worst part of this hobby. Any dealer worth his salt would take it back.

*if the seller was a friend he likely didn’t know the rifle was bad, at least I would hope!

Regards to the rifle. That’s some impressive re-numbering imo. Far from an expert on G41’s though.

Sorry about the messed up rifle OP. I am sure most of us have been there. Such is the life of collecting sometimes, unfortunately.

Thanks for sharing though. Good reference for the forum.
Sometimes if the deal looks too good to pass up, it's for the WRONG reason, unfortunately. :(

Nice catch Clay! From the pictures, that bolt renumbering job is quite well done.
The faker is almost dead dick on with the font.
It’s such a minefield. I hope the OP gets a square deal on a return.

I looked over the rifle in the photos and didn’t catch the re-numbering either. The numbers looked okay on my end; but in the photos I couldn’t see the mill marks behind the numbers but the font looked the same. That was a good eye Clay! Bolt carrier even had the cursive “h”.
