Yes, that's surprising but it is refinished and I suppose the price reflected that. Still a pretty rare rifle and worth that investment. Even refinished, or so the listing states (it does appear refinished), it's a bargain at that price which I think includes the premium but less the sales tax and shipping. Note that the MP44 that sold right behind was $26431 realized. That's a good price for the buyer even with a few flaws.Still cheaper than I expected. Maybe the economy? I honestly would have thought closer to 40. As did many others I thought their estimate was a joke, especially that low end. MP40 tube guns have been pulling more than that low end estimate.
Something I've noticed is that the MP43/1 examples I have seen, as well as my own, have the standard front sight hood while the later rifles seem to have moved to the taller G/K43 style FSH. Not sure if that's just these samples or that's the way production went. I'm yet to see any documentation or written text either way.
