According to the response to your thread, I suppose that you rightfully assumed that was typical...Recessed isn’t the norm? Three of these are recessed so I suppose I wrongfully assumed that was typical.
I think lightly oiled is best to provide lubrication and corrosion protection. Grease can dry if not cleaned and possibly impede the firing pin.Slightly off topic I know but could anyone advise me on the correct lubrication of these bolts. Ie is it correct to grease the bolt spring?
Updating my original post with this picture of my newly mounted period scope. The scope is an Ajax 2.4 x 56 22mm scope acquired from another member. (Thanks!) The mounts are period Akah mounts.My matching Mm410B has bolt body, extractor and internals in the white. The bolt handle, safety, and bolt plug are blued. Bolt face is recessed. Mine falls within the serial number range of the last five listed in Speed's small-bore book (222441-223605).
