Mm410b blued bolt?

Picked up a parts rifle last week with a m/m bolt, and noticed the bolt was blued? It looks entirely original, even wear etc. Did any range of 410b’s show up with blued bolts or perhaps it is from a different MS series rifle?

A couple of pictures for reference. Also while on the topic, did 410b’s ever come with hard rubber buttplates or simply the standard hard plastic?

This is the bolt from my 410b. It is also blued. I’ve never had any reason to believe it’s anything other than original. I believe the rifle is 1939.

Thanks for sharing that, good to see. Another oddity was the bolt face, it did not have the milled recess like my others, how about yours?

Bolt ends do differ. The non-blued one is from a 340b

A lot of questions here,
Buttplate should be "plastic" with the mauser logo.
The 4 (could be 3) digits stamped on (under) the lever should be the last 4 digits of the rifle's s/n
Recessed (or milled) bolt face, normally not encountered on M series (ms420B, 350B or mm410B). Have a look here : https://www.myersarms.com/mauser-small-bore

Recessed isn’t the norm? Three of these are recessed so I suppose I wrongfully assumed that was typical.

I'have only one Mm410B, un-recessed bolt eagle proofed.
As far as I know all Ms350B present an un-recessed bolt (mine for sure), concerning my 3 Ms420B one has a recessed bolt.
Could you post picture of recessed an un-recessed bolt's face as English is not my mother tongue

I know the survey isn't set up specifically for the MS series, but it's be great if you filled it out as best you could for those four.

I need to dig mine out as I don't remember what is what on it.

I’ve seen some of your rifles posted, you have some real beautiful Mausers! A good friend talked me out of the rifle rifle with the m/m bolt just last week, so I can’t take pictures tonight but I’ll grab some next time I’m over there. The others are mostly identical, here are some extractor differences though.

My matching Mm410B has bolt body, extractor and internals in the white. The bolt handle, safety, and bolt plug are blued. Bolt face is recessed. Mine falls within the serial number range of the last five listed in Speed's small-bore book (222441-223605).

Very nice! Mine last couple are 220 and 221 range

Really hard to tell the years of manufacture from the table and narrative in the Speed book. Mine was acquired and imported from Sweden by the guy I bought it from. My guess, given the high serial number range. is that it was made in mid to late 1944. There was a lot of trade between Germany and Sweden of raw materials like iron ore for finished goods throughout the war. My speculation is that this rifle was sent to Sweden then. But who knows..... Appreciate any comments about how to determine a more precise manufacturing date.

My rifle is a 219, and the bolt face looks identical to those shown above. Bolt handle, bolt plug (good use of original nomenclature GEM!) and safety are blued, bottom of plug and cocking piece are polished.

The only determination of dating that I know is the BU vs Eagle stamp. To my knowledge there is no further information available.

Slightly off topic I know but could anyone advise me on the correct lubrication of these bolts. Ie is it correct to grease the bolt spring?

I think lightly oiled is best to provide lubrication and corrosion protection. Grease can dry if not cleaned and possibly impede the firing pin.

Updating my original post with this picture of my newly mounted period scope. The scope is an Ajax 2.4 x 56 22mm scope acquired from another member. (Thanks!) The mounts are period Akah mounts.
