MG42 Parts Kits - Centerfire Systems

Anyone else see the MG42 kits that came through at Centerfire? Torch cut and not barrels but some seemed decent.

I’m not familiar myself with MG42 parts kit, but I was wondering what would be a “good” torch cut - vs - something to avoid. Say you want to go for a semi-auto build eventually.

I bought one out of the first batch, there’s a guy here that may be able to rebuild it in a semi formation. There’s also a group that rebuilds them for around 3500. Not sure what I’m going to do with it yet, might just try and clean it up as well as a display. Going to have to give it some thought.

From what I could see the more valuable ones have more complete markings on receivers and wwii era parts. Some are heavy on post war pieces.

Just to add a bit of information on torch cut rebuilds. It is possible to build a functional 42 with mismatched torch cut pieces. The first thing that you should do is get prints for ALL the measurements. I lost the data on all that I had but if you dont have the dimensions you will have problems. Mine was a torch cut M53 without the rear receiver. I bought a german MG42 cut rear and made it work. I have a HF mini mill that made it easier to make more precise square cuts but it isnt necessary because you will be welding gaps backed by copper sheet anyway. It was my first project and nearly the first thing I ever welded and turned out great. This was years ago so I only have about 1k into it including the HF welder :)

I was looking at those. I cannot understand why they torched through the markings
People who either dont know and dont care or people who know and do it anyway. Same with the people who cut all the STEN barrel shrouds when torching the receivers that APEX brought in.

Not sure if it's still available but a local guy near me has a bnz MG42 parts kit (and I have a OG MG42 barrel that's got no added on markings or refinished signs) and he wants 2k for it. That pretty decent for a bnz MG42 kit?

I'd say it depends on how it's cut and how complete it is but as a starter I'd say yes that's a decent price.

When I grab it (if still available) I'll post pics. Having a ginormous semi auto will be fun :) I wish I could make it into a Post sample tho but I'm not a FFL holder and don't wanna drop 9K a year to maintain it, so semi auto only for me :(
At least it will have a bnz 42 or 43 dated barrel.

Took me a long while to build off and on but the sense of accomplishment is great. Dont shoot it much because at 26lbs its on the weighty side. That and 8mm isnt getting any cheaper. Nice to check off something on the bucket list though and its purdy to look at ;)

Agreed! I will mention the guy with the kit has alot of experience with metal and works at a repair/build shop for a 07/02 holder so he may help me out with building it where he'll teach me how to weld etc. I could use the training/experience and the biggest thing for me is it will help me save money cause 3500 bucks on top of already 2K is expensive for sure to have it built. Shall see what happens tho.
