According to the Simpson Book. On a Mauser manufactured DSM, the safety was only numbered on prototypes.

The safety might be original w/o a number. It's a late enough SN.

typically only the early 4 digit and lower guns have numbered safeties and all the other bolt parts are numbered. This is a dsm36 only the bolt handle is numbered .... 100% correct and safety is original.

heres some pix after a quick cleaning. happy to have it, even with the not perfect sling

😰

is the muzzle cap correct rimfire type?

thx!

Congrats, Great find. I believe the muzzle cover is for an 8mm Gewehr, another nice score, I'd love to have it myself ! :) (y)

As was said earlier. late dsm36 as its now properly called. No numbering on any parts less the wood and the bolt body and B&R.

Early mausers were completely numbered on the bolt parts. Plus the bolt stop. This was phased out pretty early on. There are some exclusions where if police issued they took it upon themselves to number some of the smaller parts/
Bands ect. T.g. ect. Possibly safety ? But this is a textbook later Mauser. Very nice..

Original muzzle cover would be stamped metal with 22kal hole and MAUSER banner on the lid.

thx everyone for the information. the wood is internally numbered matching, and the muzzle cover hole measures about .315.

happy to have it!
