Matching CE41

Picked this up off of GB. I have a C block bolt m/m about 5000 earlier than this one. Anytime I come across any CE41 rifles they all seem to have lots of finish loss. Truly that doesn't bother me one bit. The rifle matches, has the original sight hood, what I believe is the original cleaning rod and the bore is pristine. It has the Mod. 98 delete on the side rail. I will also post pictures of my earlier C block. Same type of finish loss.

Very nice, I like them both a lot! I wonder if the finish loss is just due to use and wear or if there's something else going on, do you have any thoughts on that?

Thanks guys. With regard to the finish, the finish or loss thereof seems to be symptomatic of JPS rifles. It seems to be very thin across the frontal portion of the receiver thus showing what some would consider to be uneven wear. It is less so about wear and more an issue with the overall finish. I am sure that far more knowledgeable people than I will chime in on the finish issues with JPS rifles. Regardless of the finish I find them to be well made, silky smooth actions and my personal favorite among the major manufacturers.

Love the been there, done that look of the rifle! Pristine examples are interesting too because of the commercial type of blued finish that JPS applied. Here's a pic of the receiver ring on my '43 JPS. You can see that the ring has a polished blue finish that reflects the lens housing of my camera.
