Jake

nice pictures of the short MP-44 mag, also nice headspace gauges I have never seen those before very collectable

the manuals picture (1 of 4) the one on the right is a reproduction, the left one looks too new, you need to show a few pictures of the inside of the manual on the left

Jack, why do you think so, that it is reproduction?

Both manuals are repro. The oiler with the needle is yugo. Of the gauges one is original, the other one not. The loader is original. About the 10x mag, I had a groundfound one; I would like to see a picture of the end of the spring of the one shown. From what I can see so far I cannot say it is a fake.

I was curious if the baseplate can be removed on your short mag. Does it hold 10 rounds?

Yes, the baseplate can be removed like in 30round magazines. It holds 10, eleventh one is not possible to load.

Does anyone here know what it is?

Here is my Short mag. It was field made and picked up by a vet in the Ardennes along with a MP44 (Not this MP44) I shoot with it a lot especially off a bench or prone. It makes sense that soldiers sometimes cut these down. The rifle becomes much more manageable especially if you want a low profile.

I'll second that! Love the mix of finishes. Field made items are really cool be they uniform alterations or weapon mods. I enjoy shooting my PTR with its ZF4.. Woot Woot

Neat! What are the bumps on the side?

There are bolts on either side of the magazine that was a mystery to me. That is until I went shooting on a cold day with gloves on. It’s tricky to get a firm grip and quickly drop a short mag with your thumb pressing the release and pulling like with a 30 round magazine. But the bolts let me easily grip and remove the mag with heavy gloves. Since this was brought back from battle of the bulge, I suspect a soldier put them on your that reason. Just a theory though.
