Lubeck 237 1940, a few questions

Have had this Lubeck 237 for a little while now. Always had a few questions about it. First I see there are no acceptance stamps on the right hand side of the receiver. Although do notice this also on a Norwegian Capture I have. But how common is this? Something out of place with it? Also the one marking I wasn't sure about. The "A" in the circle. Got the rifle pretty cheap, so just wondering if anyone else notices anything about it. A little more of the story, guy I bought it from thought maybe a post war German rework. Either East or West. However I had an East German rework and none of their acceptance stamps or anything like that. As for the rifle all numbers that I have found match. Except the bolt, which all matches itself.

Looks like a typical bolt mm.

Might have been light Sanded. Definitely has something on the stock.

The circle A parts are early rejected parts I believe.

What a number someone did to that poor front action screw. Lol

A very interseting piece!

The circle A is for Abgelehnt (rejected) indicating the part failed inspection and was deemed not serviceable for military use. Your rifle is very similar to this one:http://www.k98kforum.com/showthread.php?4070-1939-237-code-with-Circle-A-proofs

There is another variant which uses Circle A for the firing proof also:http://www.k98kforum.com/showthread...t-proofs-anybody-know-anything-about-this-gun

So far as I know, nobody knows why or for who these were built. They all seem to use rejected BLM parts though. Even your screws appear to be rejects. IMO they are wartime, but there is probably some disagreement on that point.

yes some good marks on that screw ha, never had this guy apart since I got it, so was like that. And I would agree something on the stock. But learned some new things about it I never knew, thanks for the replies. Will take the rifle apart and see what else is hiding.

Hello,

the other odd item is the single E/214 on top of receiver this did not occur till 1942 usually has 3x E/2143 on RHS of reciever. has proper BLM small Fireproofs.
