Lsr scope can and accessories

Did they really bother on scope cans in 1945? Especially since the bcd45 coded ones didn't start on 1st January 1945. That scope can then most possibly didn't even make it out the door from the factory!

If I am not mistaken Jack944 has the Matching Can to his BCD45 LSR .

Here are Pics of 2 original LSR Keys for comparison to the one posted by Sturmgrenadier .
The one in first 2 Pics is a LSR Key that came with Matching Can , Mount and Scope and Base Cover , this Set was part of a larger grouping of Scopes and Mounts that came directly from Vet . The other Key I am not at liberty to say whom it belongs too .

These keys are super cool. But as Mike pointed out it is difficult to say 100% what an original should look like. And it seems like something that would be very easy to replicate.

Thanks for posting. Great can and accessories.

And BTW, a can with a 4 digit serial number has a great chance of being a Sauer then Gustloff. Although either are possible.

STOP POSTING PICS of original keys, you are making me angry and upset.

Thank you.

All kidding aside, I need an original.

pzjgr, I hadn't seen a good repro recently, I hate the fake laser cut crap, I need to find a nice one.

Jeff

no can

That sounds very interesting. Has this rifle been posted in here before? If yes, could you direct me to the thread?

Nope my didn't come with a can. I have the original capture document and it only lists the gun. It was brought back by an 82nd Airborne guy.

I think it was posted on the forum several years ago and when we did the transfer to the new site the post was lost. I sent some quick pics to Matt D. Will have to get it out and re-take some good pics.

Yeah there is no definitive certification. If we establish some sound examples as legitimate, we'll be able to compare characteristics to any future examples. When we had it in hand, Dave was able to show some of the details that are lacking on any known reproduction keys.

Matt are you saying the can has a greater chance of belonging to a Sauer, because unlike Gustloff, Sauer rolled into new letter blocks after 9999. Wouldn't the can have a letter suffix much like a turret can or zf41 can?

Yes I agree. Thus far this has been the problem. Finding examples that are consistent and establishing some criteria for what is real. The other problem (or I should say fear) is that these would be very easy to fake.

I see what you are saying about the letter prefix and that is a good point I hadn't considered. This is assuming that the letter prefix was always added to the can.

Anyone have pictures of a matching Sauer scope and can set to show for comparison? I'd be curious to see how many have the letter prefix also. Do 5 digit High Turret cans have letter prefixes?

Pics of Matching SAUER LSR Mount & Scope and Can . No Letter Suffix on Can .

I have another I just looked at , which has Letter Suffix , Sauer LSR Can # 3686 w .

High Turret Can 48378 no suffix . Matt asked about Turret Can with letter suffix > Amberg posted a photo of a Turret Can with Letter Suffix , Can # 37050 L

Just Added Pics of the Sauer LSR Can 3686 w

Just spoke to Brian, his matching Sauer scope can has no letter block stamp. It’s only a couple of examples but Matt may be on to something.

Your can with the key and cover are great. Looks all original to me. That key is especially hard to find and I have not been able to find one despite my best efforts to get one thus far. It is what keeps me searching though. If you find it all then there is nothing to look forward to in the future.

I don't know of any Sauer LSR Cans with a letter suffix. Here is my matching can and Sauer Scope. One of my favorite scopes. These late war DOW spring band LSR scopes are really cool. I wish I could find the matching rifle to go with it. Just what ever you do don't tell Dave about the rifle if it matches this scope, please!!!!!

Turret Can

Here is my Turret Can with letter suffix. The Single Claw Cans had a different letter and number font from the turret cans according to some past research contained in some old posts here at the forum.

It is interesting that can 3005x has the same font as is found on the bcd cans. So I assume this one has been finished at the same site as the bcd snipers. The smaller font has been for me always for ce cans.
