Looking to buy my first k98

Hi, I am new to the forum and have been looking for an all matching K98 from WW 2 and have quickly found out that they are tough to find and aren't cheap either. I am looking at one dou 44 and have been sent a fee pics which I will post here. I did notice the waffenment above the dou is off and was told it was double stamped. Can anyone tell me there thoughts on it by looking at this all numbers matching rifle if this would be worth the 1300 they are asking? Thanks,

H Scott, what does the floor plate look like?
I know my DOU 44 (in the ee block) had similar markings on the receiver, looked displaced more than double stamped.
 
What you've shown so far is good. Post the bottom metal as Joe mentioned as the band numbers. Also pics of the stock bolt recess and sling cut out, as well as good pics of the stock. Sight parts are also numbered or should be.

Indeed more pictures are must too make sure this rifle is correct. As for price. If your able too get an all matching bring back K98k regardless of maker in good condition for $1300 or under $1300. Your doing well. The more common produced ones like the byf44 usually sell between $1500-$1800.
 
Waiting for some pics of the stock and butt but it appears all matching to me. Stock looks a little bit rough from what I can see.

I posted more pics. I see some scratches on the stock but all looks correct. What do you think?

That looks like an honest K98k rifle if you ask me. I actually like how this rifle has that carried look too it you can tell that this one saw action and it was use.

For the price $1300 is a good deal for a rifle like this.

And its stop missing anything either. Wartime slings typical sell between $85-$150, original sight hoods around $40, and original cleaning rod not a reproduction $60-$85.

My price advise too you if their asking $1300 offer them $1200 doesn't hurt too try.

Well thats good then shipping cost $60-$50 depending on distance. So in reality your getting the rifle for $1250! :biggrin1:
 
I'm not a collector by any stretch of the imagination but I like the battle scars on these old war horses. Every ding, scratch and mark on these girls has a story. We may not know the story, but it's there.
