Late war Stock with problems

I have a late war stock that unfortunately has been worked on. I don't know what to do now. Is it better to repair it or leave it as it is
And is it still distinguishable from an Israeli one now

Regards Tim

I am guessing it was a Mauser Kriegsmodell stock that is post war numbered and somekind of conversion to bandspring setup.
You can see where the screw was mounted for the rear band. I agree the bandspring route was added.

The bandspring Route is the Problem .
Is too deep and Looks Not good.
Is it better to filled up the route for the original Optik or should I leave it like that.

You could "build out" the route with so it's not so deep and use a band spring.
Or fill it I would use something like mohawk wood exoxy. It's sandable and it's able to be toned afterwards. By painting and toning the area is the only way it's going to look good imo.

I want to use it for a late war system.
Tim, which rifle maker? (code) I ask because I looked at byf 45s, as well as svw45s and svwMBs shown in the picture reference show a mixture of rifles with traditional band spring, bands with screws and bands w/screws with a route for the spring. how to ‘fix’ yours may be best determined by which code late war system you are trying to build up. If it were my project, I’d try to match the combination of the parts to match the receiver code.
