Are the photos from GunBroker seller Mauser Wz.29? He has a similar kind of product photography.

So I was researching the rifle before I placed a bid, but I did not see prior threads about this seller. I haven't paid for the item yet. Will cancel the purchase if it's a lemon.

The rifle in the pictures is mismatched and is made of wartime German parts mostly by Styer from what I can see. Looks like the B/R is of an SS contract run, no letter block, no acceptance on receiver. I don’t know how it’s advertised.
I see you are a newbie needing advice. That’s about all I can see from the limited photos.

I really appreciate the help. I was reading a lot before the bid on the SS contract and agreed it looks like it is legit, but I've seen some of the really experienced guys on here spot impressive fakes (diagonal mill marks and lathed bolts) It is advertised as a ss contract assembled/manufactured at gussen mathausen. I spoke with the seller on the phone and he speculated that it was fully assembled there with spare parts or the receiver/barrel was made there and picked off a busted rifle and Frankenstein refitted later. Couldn't/didn't guarantee it, obviously. It's advertised that the barrel/receiver matches, which appears right from the photos. Also that the stock matches itself. Parts are various, see pics for seller description. No import marks. I can provide more pics on request.

Basically I thought from my novice research it looked legit. Consensus on here is that seller is known turd vendor, now I am spooked. I am fine with buying the rifle as described if that's what it legit is.

The rifle was never assembled this way by the Germans, so don’t buy into that. But it looks as though he’s offering a 3 day return period. I don’t see anything misleading in the description. You are bidding on a complete mixmaster with an SS contract B/R. If your happy and the price is right, it should make a good shooter and display rifle. Welcome to the forum.
Below is a link to the picture reference. Scroll down to BNZ rifles and you can see photos of correct examples.

Thanks, that makes me feel a bit better. It is a little steep, but the SS contract b/r is cool. Also do you mean the Germans never would have originally assembled it this way or do you mean someone mix matched post war? Is it possible the original matching rifle got blown up and the parts were replaced and the rifle was reissued

Well there's a bit of misinformation in his 'story' and I've seen most of those claims before. Gusen made parts.

I was looking at this thread from February (link below). I did pick up on the description being wrong that rifles were never assembled at Gusen, just parts were manufactured there. They were actually assembled at steyr?

In the beginning of the description he says the b/r was SS contract made at gusen, but then at the bottom he says the receiver was made by steyr and the barrel is dou. But the markings seem to check out for the SS contract story, large bnz, no waffenamt on the right side, none on top, no lettered suffix. There is no v7 on the receiver that I can find from pics but I don't think it needs to have one.

Just wondering what else I am missing?
