4239d looks awfully familiar....While it is a guess, I think the band is good, went through trends search for something to compare 1907/DWM 4239 d was the only candidate that showed bands and they (RB & numeric fonts) are fairly supportive for "original" but you be the judge. 1908 DWM 7710 (May 2018 featured on this forum if interest) is a better match (IMO)
I reserve the "right" to lift (pilfer or plunder) as far as I can get away with it... !4239d looks awfully familiar....
In all seriousness, glad our assessments agreed!
Thanks Mike. I suppose it could be on the flip side of the disc and will have to take it out at some point.
Out of curiosity, do you (or anyone else) know the correct spanner size for the screws that held those on? I've got a couple I want to check.Very cool warhorse Marc! The rifle that just wouldn't give it up!! Must've had a lot of users... Thanks for sharing.
I know you probably have already figured this, and I'd venture that given the accepted side of the unit disc is showing, that it is unlikely that the other side is unit marked. I think the hunch is that the fraktur accepted side was usually marked first, and then flipped and marked if the unit was changed. Maybe it's even a replacement. Who knows!
I just recommend that people buy this set, it has all the bits you would need, including the spanners and special recoil lug oneOut of curiosity, do you (or anyone else) know the correct spanner size for the screws that held those on? I've got a couple I want to check.
