You'd still have to unrest your cheek right? That's still the 8mm bolt pull, not sure many people have the arm mobility.

Eh, I wouldn't be too worried about that. Short of accidentally reloading a cartridge with semtex you're going to be hard pressed to actually burst a large ring mauser action. I'd have to handle it but I'm actually thinking it might be a touch more safe in a case rupture situation. Normally the bolt shroud deflects the gases up and to the side, away from the shooter's eyes, but you can end up with some gas burns on your forehead. I think this would have it harmfully fart out the side behind your ear.
Gotta say, I don't hate this. I mean, sporterization bad etc etc, but I'll bet it's handy as hell and would likely make a really convenient gun to carry around dense brush due to the shorter length. Follow up shots aren't going to be a thing, of course, but then again they really aren't with a muzzle loader either.

It looks well done, but ultimately a waste of time to me. Maybe the client wanted it set up this way for their particular handling characteristics etc. or some handicap. However, in my opinion it lost its worth as soon as the action was positioned like that. It is ergonomically impractical to the majority. Should have just cut the barrel down to 16.5 and set it in a nice stock with a proper length of pull. I do not think the same of bullpup semi’s, just for clarification. I don’t own any bullpups but I see the value and I have handled them and think highly.
