K98k PU sniper conversion for review

I'm very far from a sniper guy but there is some evidence of there at least being experiments done in this direction:
(no source on the pic, unfortunately, just one I've had since running across it online years ago)

I see a ribbon for the Iron Cross 2nd Class and Iron Cross 1st Class. Absence of an infantry assault badge, wound badge, close combat clasp furthers the suspiciousness of the image. You don't get Iron Crosses for selling girl scout cookies for the fuhrer. Too bad we can't read his cuff ribbon.

The eye relief is rather long too (5"-6"?) and the PU was a short eye relief scope.

I'd braze one myself for that kinda ducats. Eye keeeed. Eye keeeeed.

That eye relief seems a bit too far forward; perhaps 3" further forward than its intended use. Anyone with a M91/30 w/PU scope? Trying using it with your head 3" further back and tell us whether it's doable? TIA.

I agree with the consensus here that it is fabricated. I don't think the Germans would go through that level of modification of the base/mount to supplement another sniper rifle. Also, holy hell that eye relief for a PU scope mounted that far forward would be a nightmare. Anyone that owns PU mosins knows how it is. You'd need your cheek over the action to be able to see anything. Plus in one of the auction photos it does not appear that the mount is centered over the bore like it should be. It doesn't look as far to the side as say an SVD and PSO would be but still doesn't look centered. Someone is about to "get got" with this thing

It sold, and with fees, taxes, plus shipping. The buyer will be in it for $1600 plus for this special rifle lol.

I guess the winner has this mentality when it comes to buying gems like this.

I still hope he screws off and gets a hobby in planting or something. He has no business being anywhere near collectible rifles. He needs to fire sale them off and never look back at the K98K or any collectible military rifle.

Be careful this dude will end up selling counterfeit airbags or landing gears pins on Ebay if you don't watch him.
