Hello all -

Picked this up locally a couple of weeks ago - seller offered several WWII field gear items along with several "Nazi-marked" items using a site that does not allow for the sale of firearms. The seller included a close up picture of the small waffenamt on the receiver just before the serial number - that was enough for me to figure out that he had a K98 for sale as well. Anyway, the seller represented that his uncle brought it back at the end of the war, left it to the seller's father, who then left it to him in the early 70's. If all of that is true, I suspect this rifle's serial number is not in any collector database until now.

The rifle was pretty dirty but cleaned up well, including the now shiny and sharp bore - I added the sling and cleaning rod.

This is my first semi-Kriegsmodell and I am very happy with it - all comments welcome.

I should clarify - I know better than to clean or mess with the wood - my cleaning was confined to a basic field strip of the bolt, swabbing the bore, and wiping off dust and cobwebs.

That's a stunner for sure, love the two tone contrast between the phosphated bolt and the blued receiver.

Dang, a lot of nice late rifles popping up lately.
Sure has been, definitely nice to see they're still out there.

Sweet rifle! Glad you were searching outside the box and reading between the lines and snagged it.

great example.. this isnt a SKM.. but a standard configuration and these are actually harder to find IMHO>> Sometimes asking questions and being a sleuth when look at items turns up more stuff. I always ask as this stuff turns up in batches..
