K98b - Looking for help identifying this rifle

I got the chance to get my hands on this K98b. I would like to get as many informations before buying it.

It is all matching except for the bolt, stock and buttplate. The stock seems odd to me as there are no finger grooves and no hole for the sling to attach. Stock from K98a maybe?

A lot of Simson stamps all over it, receiver is blank, no date.

What do you think about this one?

Thanks a lot in advance for every opinion!

Best regards Angelo

Buttplate is marked RFV for custom, so its not from same rifle same as the buttstock has different number, the Kar98a would have shorter buttstock, this has lenght of Gew98 i assume.

You are right, usually the buttplate belong to a 1938 Mauser Berlin K98k, Sn. 2881h.

Thanks for your replies, Stephan98k and AndyB!

Meanwhile the original stock was found by the owner, unfortunately only whats left of it - it is broken...

So that could be an explanation why the stock was changed. Whatever, the remains of it is numbers matching to the gun!

Given how hard 98b stocks are to find, I'd be very tempted ot get the whole thing as a package and restore the original stock. You'd have to get a donor butt somewhere and I don't think there would be enough meat behind the tang before the join to trust it shooting, but it would still probably be worthwhile.

Stock could be post-war Yugo replacement. A closeup of the roundel stamped on the side would help. Might be BTK or something similar.

Could be different country buttstock anyway similar serialing is not obvious by yugoslavia.

I think the stock is Brazilian M 1908. Look at the "B in circle"! The butt plate is from a completely different rifle, as well as the bolt catch, which is maybe even from a Swedish M96 or so. I agree, even if the stock is broken, it's, in the end, a big plus for the package.
Thanks for sharing!

Yes, and the stock has the slots for handguard clip behind the rear sight.

I don't think this is a Brazilian stock, though I can't tell for sure from the pictures. The brazilian stocks did not have a takedown, though it could have been added.

There is cartuche behind the added takedown disc, i assume from the inside of wieving a wood the disc is not period there was added by removing parts from broken butt.
