? K98 bnz/byf

Whoa, okay sorry guys. i got mixed up in my post. Disregard the last reply I was talking to a friend about Astra 600s for the german military and what would be the best to get a Portuguese one or a second contract german one, and it was on another forum. Lol my mistake on that one. Replied to the wrong message. But anyways that's what I would love to find or even see one in person a Lithuanian k98k

Most of the second contract (the M937B’s) were delivered to Portugal. And there is literally no way to tell the difference from one that was delivered vs one that was pulled into German service. Unless its an RC or something, or it went through the German depot system.

Sellers of the 1941 Port’s love to insinuate that their rifle was used by the Germans blah blah blah. Truth is almost none of the ones you see matching and complete on the market today were.
This is a big part of why I'd actually really love to get an RC Port. I remember seeing a couple back when the RC's were coming in by the shipping container full. Just neat to have one that you 100% know went to the Wehrmacht.

Well now that we are talking about port rifles. Did Portuguese help the german war machine at all. Kinda like how Spain did with firearms

Portugal was neutral until 1944 and they also had a 500+ year treaty alliance with England. They did not supply Germany with weapons. Officially about 150 or so Portuguese volunteers joined the Heer after the German invasion of the Soviet Union. They joined the 250th infantry division called the “Blaue Division”. Having said that, many trade deals, sales and exchanges were conducted between Portugal and the Axis powers. However also will the Allies. As far as I’m aware, I have not read that Portugal officially supplied Germany with weapons. I know they sold Germany Tungsten in a semi-secret deal.

Oh okay I was just curious. And tungsten, did Portugal have a big supply of tungsten or was it a tungsten production country

Yup, basically the biggest and best producing mines in Europe at the time were located in Portugal and Spain.

Wow are they still in production nowadays. Do they supply tungsten to anyone anymore. I can't see them stopping if they have a large amount of it

Lol take a guess who produces the most tungsten nowadays… China. Probably over 80% of the worlds production. Russia is second. Also keep in mind that Western and central Europe has been choked by the European Union and all their regulations for years. So I highly doubt Portugal can produce tungsten like they used to, they are barely allowed to fish for sardines and cod nowadays….

Oh man really I didn't know that. Well that's not good for the U.S if those are the main suppliers of tungsten. Especially for arms making. Wonder if they have a stockpile or not. I can't see how the EU can stop them from fishing and everything I heard Portugal loved fishing and it was a big part of the economy
