Is an all matching k98 1937 s237 that has been refinished worth 950.00 bore is excellant. Stock is unsanded with a lot of waffenamts. Thanks frank

I agree with Bob. This rifle has no value to a collector. I think it funny someone spent several hundred dollars to pay a gunsmith to turn a $2,000 plus rifle into a $400 rifle....

interesting new pimp blue. Which translates to 0% original finish. I agree, a RC is a better value than that.

" The vet who owned this polished off the finish, ergo the re-finish. Been in the collection 40 - 50 + years. Legit Luftwaffe."

What a shame..

Shame indeed. Not worth $950 to me. I'd love to have the stock

They ruined the rifle but if it was $500 - $600 I would seriously consider it as a shooter.

Even then I would have to see it in hand first.

The stock, sling, and cover are the meat of the rifle now.

$400.00? If you think so.
RCs are starting at $400.00 so I would be happy to pay 500 without the sling if my questions below were addressed

A couple things bother me about this gun and maybe it speaks of my ignorance more than the gun.

With no suffix wouldn't this be an early 37 and have to have a walnut stock?
Wouldn't the firing proofs all be Wiemar?
The bolt is stamped Wa77. That looks wrong to me.
(Taplin's Mauser Military Rifle Markings shows WaA 77 was only used my Steyr)

If a more knowledgeable person can clarify those observations I would appreciate it

The bolt body is definitely wrong. WaA 77 first showed up at Erma in 1938 and only for one year, before again showing up on Radom produced parts for Steyr. Hard to tell without a better picture of the bolt, but I'd say it's 41-44 Steyr bolt body.

The bolt body is wrong, notice no pics of the bolt root sn. The sling is a repro, look at the locking bar on the sliding buckle. Not worth the bin price, but definitely worth more than a RC. The early stock is in good shape with nice markings, that is $250. The metal while refinished has not been heavily buffed and the markings are still clear. RCs are crudely reblued, have no matching parts, and the stock usually heavily sanded where the new, large, sn is stamped.
All other being equal, the rifle is more valuable than an RC. Having said that, I don't think a common code RC is worth $400.

Full discloser, I have paid $400. for an RC, but that was because it had a code I wanted, or it had rare parts that I needed for a restoration.
