Just got this K98 Dou 42

Seen this and decided to take a chance on it. Most of the blueing is gone that is exposed. Just took a few quick pictures. Will get more when I actually take it apart. Sorry for the rough pictures, just wanted to quickly get some.



























 
A very nice early dou42. Cocking piece is an armorer's replacement, and I'm guessing you will find the firing pin is one also.
 
just took it apart to check it out a little closer, firing pin is not a replacement, matching to the rifle. Just a few more quick pics to go with it.

Cool battle carried vet. Don't clean it at all, it's cool like that. I'm not so sure the striker/sear isn't OEM. Uga, it's a 280 / ax part. Erma went off line for K98k production in 1941, so after that their parts got spread out. Dou picked up the K98k production slack.
 
Nice! I wouldn't touch a thing.

I have dou 42 5235b. The only difference is that it has the open milled front band, with matching serial number.
