In defense of Bubba

IMO anytime I see a sporterized rifle I want to vomit.

I remember when Mosins were dirt cheap and I had enough sense not to mess with them as original condition triumphs all for monetary and historical value

In defense of “Bubba” I have seen more than a few vet bring back rifles that the veteran has had crafted into beautiful hunting rifles. I figure they earned that rifle the hard way, it’s up to them what they do with it! Some of them are really well done and I still hope to someday add one to my collection, intentionally!

These beautiful reworks don’t usually involve welding and bondo, though. Or .5 CPI checkering jobs done with a woodburner. I can also now add they may include drilling and tapping for a nice scope mount, or a Lyman peep sight, but DEFINITELY NOT another countries’ mil-spec iron sight. :)

Yeah, me too. Like some nice old Griffin & Howe sporter in 7x57, or maybe something done by Al Linden.

But rifles like that don't come under the "In Defense of Bubba" heading. Bubba isn't within a hundred miles of such craftsmanship.
