Identify my gun.

Was my father in laws and his father was in WW2. From online research it looks to be a K98 but not certain of from where. The gun has 1937 on it. Any help would be great

as grimlin13 wrote, we need pitchas! for the forum software, make the images less than 500kb in size EACH. if your phone or camera won’t do it, take the pix, email to yourself (which shrinks them) & then post here. in focus, well lit but not too much glare, outside on over cast day works. full length shots left & right, left side of receiver, top & right side of rcvr, bolt numbers, any stamps on the stock. there’s lots of expertise here, but we need to see it, looking forward to your pix!

Ok, I’ll take a shot (no pun intended)

If there are letters/numbers stamped on the receiver above 1937, it is probably a K98k.

If it is 1937 only on top of the receiver, probably a Czech VZ-24.

Either of these rifles would be candidates for a WWll bring back, or early post war import. (Statistically more likely)

Without photos or a very good written description everything is just an educated guess. Even a single picture showing the markings on top of the receiver would allow identification as to type/model of rifle, but would tell little about condition, degree of originality or value.
