How did I do? G41(W)

just picked up a G41(M), it does have a repro stock and its missing the metal stock parts, only paid $1k. Just wondering how I did, and how hard it will be to find the parts i need. What i need is:
Buttplate
Bandspring
Both barrel bands
Bayonet lug

Hello,

this is the model g41 the earlier version was the g41 (W) just to let you know, the G41(M) is a completely different rifle a bolt action semi auto. every part you need can be had as a repro. Original you JUST missed all these parts as a person parted out a complete rifle over the last couple months on ebay but some stuff didn't sell and what is left you don't need and its been quite some time before this of parts popping. There is a French guy who has a sight called AAS sniper for all your repro parts needs. originals parts cost almost double his asking price for repro's unless you get lucky and find stuff in the wild.

A G41(M) is a Mauser made semi-auto. What you have is the Walther-designed G41, manufactured by Berlin-Lübecker Maschinenfabrik (BLM), manufacturer code "duv". This being a Walther design will make it so much easier for you to find the parts you need. The price of $1k sounds like a pretty good deal. It is partly mismatched with a repro stock, hence collectors won't be all over it. Doesn't matter, it's still a great rifle and once you catch the bug, you'll be prowling the net for an all matching one. In the meantime, you should try to collect the missing parts. Everything you're missing is EXPENSIVE but there are parts on eBay right now that will fit the bill. They are repros of good quality made in France. I had my own experience with these parts and they are pretty much worth the money. You can see them up close in my old thread:

The cupped butt plate of a Mauser K98 will fit.

GunKraut, are there any cheap-ish repro out there? I just want this to be a show off/reenacting weapon. I know it doesnt have a TON of collector value, but i know it will turn some heads at events and public displays.

And is there a way to BFA a G41? Ive owned a few G43s in the past, but never a G41

Sorry, I haven't found any display grade parts yet for G41 rifles. Most parts are so unique, you can't make them from something taken off a different rifle. I once fabricated a G41 hand guard using a Springfield 1903A3 part but boy, what a long way to go until it fit and looked right. The parts out of France are quality items but not exactly cheap. The Frenchman does have the blank fire adapter you're looking for:

welcome,, The guy in france is the only guy Im aware of that sell repro G41 parts. There was a member here that had the bayo lug another French made item on ebay recently. At one point he made the bands and band springs and bayo lug, mag well ect..ect. Good quality as well. Stock looks like its solid beech and was probably made in Poland by Lez. He does make great stocks. But, why solid beech ? Should of used walnut. I think now he makes them in laminate.

Stock recoil lug

Check the stock recoil lug. You may need to replace it if its the modified carriage bolt that's typically supplied with the repro stock from Poland. You did well for 1K, good luck on your restoration.

At $1000 I think you did VERY well. Even tracking down parts original or repro makes for a fun tinkering project. Have yet to tackle that with a G41 myself. Have seen a few candidates just never as complete as yours is. It does look like you have a G43 bolt carrier on it though, that may be a tough one to find for a G41?

Is that a G43 bolt carrier? I thought the charging handle was on the right side for a G43

Yes, it is a G43 bolt carrier but it will work. The G43 carrier needs the handle to be on the left side because the scope mounts on the right side. There's a G41 bolt carrier on eBay, you could bid on it and sell your G43 carrier to raise funds.

I would think they would be slightly off. Do you have a 98k band laying around to try it? If not, I'll disassemble and give it a go.

I lent my 98's to a buddy for a movie shoot this week, I'll have them back sunday night, but if you have one you could try tonight that would be great.....also in the photo of the muzzle cap, does it look like the retaining pin is gone?

I definitely forgot to test out the fitment of the 98k band. I'll have to, but I'm guessing no.

When I talked to rob in December and bought a lug, he stated he had one more left and would not be producing more due to time constraints. They were $265 shipped.

There are a bunch of G41 parts on ebay right now.
Take a look, most if not all that you need is there.
