Great pix of a BEAUTIFUL rifle!
I have one almost exactly like it, Geco mfr, but it's missing the safety lever. I'm very new to the Mauser world (tho I collect Carcanos & Mosin Nagants).
Maybe a dumb question, but are the DSM-34 safety levers interchangeable with the larger k98 levers that I see on eBay?

Thoughts on why the safety lever would be missing? Readily replaceable?
Inherited mine from my long-since passed father, who picked it up for $100 in... 1980? Thanks, Justin

Chris: beautiful figuring in that stock.

CJ6AV8R: as far as I know, no other safety interchanges with a DSM-34 safety. They are smaller than a Kar.98k safety but have a similar appearance and function. It is the easiest metal part to break on the DSM-34 (as well as the Kar.98k). They almost never come up for sale as a loose part. You could buy a loose DSM-34 bolt (also a rare find) or shell out the money for a damaged or badly sporterized DSM-34 then cannibalize the safety. Or you could buy a reproduction from this gentleman:

Unless you have skills and plenty of spare time I would recommend the prefit and salt-blued option for $90.
