Help authenticating SS2 Death Head marking on potential Gew 98 Conversion.

Hello everyone,
I was hoping for some help authenticating these German death head markings on a potential Gew 98 sniper conversion for the SS. From what I have read with Gew conversions for the SS, this one seems right, but wanted to get second opinions. Thank you all for the help!

Pictures are not great, but I think this was an SS/skull rework with a '2' added by some moron. Stock acceptance looks ok, but none of the sniper stuff looks right.

Is it in your possession? Take more pictures of the base and especially the rear of the base. Screws are bad for sure. As Ryan said, base rifle could be good. Stock should be internally numbered and a conversion date and proof on bottom of barrel.

Sadly this rifle currently is not in my possession, and I only received these photos pertaining to the markings. I can see how the 2 may of been added when compared to originals. Quite a shame if it was an original death head marked gew that someone tried faking as a sniper. I will see if I can get any of the rear scope base.

The locking screw in that Base is not an original locking screw , can you get more pics showing all the screws and rear of Base as Rick/biggymu mentioned in earlier post . The DH in the Stock looks original to me also .
