GSWA weapons dug up.

Hello everyone. Several thousands of firearms used by Schutztruppe have been dug up in Namibia a few days ago while laying pipes.
Mostly Gew98, some carbines, one Reichsrevolver and a sword. I think they were from one of two depots in GSWA. One night in June of 1915 Schirrmeister Keplin burned 2,000,000 rounds of ammunition and 8,000 rifles. So they wouldn't fall into the enemy’s hands. All of the firearms are now with the Namibian Police. Probably going to be destroyed but who knows.

What a historical find! Looks like they've already been destroyed for the most part (bent barrels and burned?). Who knows, maybe Royal Tiger imports can get them and sell them off. I think they would list these as "Fair condition".

Thanks for sharing. Having been to Namibia and Tanzania. I would love to add a firearm related to German Southwest Africa or German East Africa.

I did bring back some coins though:

•Top left, German East Africa, 1899 Eine Rupie, from Zanzibar (Tanzania). Germany had special currency minted for GEA.

•Bottom right, 5 Pfennig 1909. From Namibia. They simply used Continental German currency in GSWA.
