German WW1 gas masks.

I see many American WW1 era gas masks come up for sale but I have yet too see a German WW1 gas mask come up for sale. I these pieces encountered very often. When I was even at the SOS show this year I didn't see one of these being offered for sale there. Or I missed it.

Just a thought.

WW1 german gas masks are really rare bits of kit over here, I've seen 3 in the last 10 years and the prices they fetch are astronomical.Come to think of it I've never seen an American or a British first war mask at an arms fair.I have an original canister and hunted around a few years ago to see if anyone made a good repro mask to put in it but couldn't find one.

Toorop that mask looks awesome! Are they rare in Europe? All the masks I've seen over here havent been as good condition as yours.

They are quite rare if you're looking for good condition. Send me an mp if you're still looking for one.

Well I'm glad to see my fellow members and collectors here are able to find nice ones still in Europe. But like I said I have yet to seen one for sale in person here in the states. What do they normally sell for in Europe just curious.

A good one is about 300-350€ with original box. How much does it cost in the United States ?

That seems like a really good price for how rare these items are. I remembered when I picked up my German WW2 gas mask for $100 and at the shows they were priced at $300.

Like I said I have never seen one of the WW1 types for sale at the shows in KY or IN. If I did dealers would have them for crazy money IMO.

I found mine a couple of years ago in Ciney (Belgium). It was the first one I saw.
I think it's in good condition and the matching spare lenses were included.

Leather WWI German gas masks and cans are quite common on eBay in the US. Typically now $250-$350 though 10 years ago they were under $150. The early gummi version is rare but pops up occasionally.
I have 6 or 7 (or is it eight?) around here picked up over the years. The ersatz wood (Birch) "cans" are quite rare and I have never seen one for sale in the US or on eBay.

Nice mask sir and thanks for sharing. Glad too see more of these pieces being showed off.

And ebeeby how do you have almost eight of these? I haven't even seen one for sale at the normal shows or the SOS shows.

I guess they're attic finds and all go on ebay by non-collector types. Now that you mention it, I never see them at Texas shows....

There's a few on ebay right now but boy are they pricey!
