Yes, being aware of your surroundings is beneficial when you are in battle fields. That is why the low powered LER scope now finds its way as a military scope rather than a hunting scope. I believe the use of ZF41 would have been ideal if mounted on Maschinenkarabiners. But the concept was sure too early for the age and it is obvious that the WaA or WaPrüf2 did not really appreciate its usage. What they wanted and really needed in the field was a real sniper rifle.

Do you have images of the two piece used on a Mod.88? I believe I bought one of these.
 
Working up some pictures. I believe it’s a set up similar to the one on the Remington shown above. The rings are in the style stated in Jim C. and Martin K.’s book as being of Sauer origin, whether they are or not, I do not know. It’s in poor condition but still functioning fine, this Voigtlander lacks a serial or Drp number etc. All I need is the rear receiver mounted optic now, I’m sure that will be easy!
