G98/k98 ss conversation I just purchased this rifle . It won’t let me upload more for some reason . Rifle is numbered .. 2222 ser

Here are some pictures of yours. https://www.proxibid.com/WWII-GERMAN-SS-G-98-K-98-CONVERSION-SNIPER-RIFLE/lotInformation/63972340

Your rifle has been the subject of discussion previously starting with post #4 https://www.k98kforum.com/threads/turd-alert-fake-high-turret.55826/

To post pictures of your own, you must resize the photos to a smaller format.
Thank you .. I’ll work on that . The bolt on this rifle will not clear the scope bell .. they person I bought it from purchased it off this auction . I purchased off gun brokers from him … I believe he is correct about this being original .. but I believe the mount might be fake.. or the scope is wrong for it .

Can you remove the scope and take a picture of the rear of the base? It should be numbered to match the B/R. We don’t see any photos of this for your rifle.
It is the consensus the barreled receiver is genuine, but the stock is fake. The stock should be relieved under the bent bolt for ease of operation.
Since there is no relief in the stock, the bolt could not be bent far enough down. Now it hits the scope on opening. The rifle could never have been issued this way. Given these facts, the stock and therefore the bolt were never configured properly to work as a sniper.
I would try to get my money back personally.
Let’s see if the base is numbered.

Yes I’ll send you some pictures tomorrow.. Glenn has been working with me. He plastered original all over the sale so it would be bad for him . If he doesn’t make it right

To summarize: this rifle originally got sold by Centurion Auctions on Tuesday, Oct 12, 2021 for $ 6,000 (without BP) to an online bidder. On 4/18/2023 9:47 PM it got sold on gunbroker.com for $ 8,625. And the person who just recently bought it in the auction then sold the gun to you.

Would you elaborate how much you have paid for the rifle? Was it more or less than in the GB auction? If it was less, why did the buyer of the GB auction let it go? If it was more, why did you overpay the GB auction?

Regarding the rifle itself and your sellers opinion: doesn't it sound very odd to you that someone less than a month earlier purchases a rare sniper rifle and then sells it to you and tells you this is original? Either he made a large profit on you, or he knows the rifle is no good and that is why he sold it to you.

Thanks for clearing up, seems I had mistunderstood your earlier post!

Looking at the GB auction again, man just read this in detail:
The rifle and scope are guaranteed original.
All markings, proofs and numbers, SS and otherwise are guaranteed original.
I would advise anyone who is planning to bid on this rifle to do your homework and research
He guarantees the rifle is original, he guarantees the scope is original. He therefore does not guarantee it is an original sniper rifle. By putting it the way he did it reads super nice, but actually he isn't claiming the whole rifle is original, just some aspects are.

If I was the one who had bought it, I'd try to give it back, simply based on the fact that the bolt handle does not clear the scope, and he didn't mention this in the description. For this amount of money you can do better. And a guy doing a description update with links to this forum where at the same time in another thread this particular rifle is being discussed ......

“Original scope original rifle” doesn’t save his a$$. I’d still sue him if I needed to. Gunbroker clowns aren’t as clever as they think they are.
