That's a very nice rifle. The walnut stock is unusual in 42. Do you have any pictures of the proofs/serial number in the stock?

Stock serial number picture. I tried gently to remove the hand guard, the spring steel clip has a lot of tension and doesn't look like it has been messed with. At some point if I decide to part with the rifle I will make a better attempt to remove it.

Don't remove the handguard. There is a strong chance it will break, and that does no one any good.

Not surprised to see a Walnut stock on a '42 G24t. There was a short run of Walnut stocks on these rifles in '42 and the vast majority of them appear in the "h" block. I have one in my collection, all matching, that my father brought home. I have seen two other '42 G24ts, in the "h" block, that have walnut stocks. I've been told of others as well. This makes the fifth one that I know of in the "h" block with a walnut stock. I believe it was the last effort to use up the last of these walnut stocks. I'll have to get to my own computer to provide pics. Very nice G24t BTW. Thanks for sharing.

I have dou 42 G24(t)s 4666h with walnut FBP and 3999j with CBP laminated. Both matched and original.

I have one w/walnut stock, also a H block, 2059. Stock and receiver match, bolt does not. Looks like it came out of Romania, almost entirely devoid of bluing. I also have a laminate stock dated 1941, again stock & rifle match, bolt does not. Seems there was no regular progression from walnut to laminate, or as above a run of walnut n 1941I always remove hand guards on these and similar rifles to clean rust, corruption, and other junk from under them. Do it slowly and as it comes up move your had forward towards the clip and thicker wood. I have never broken one. One time the clip screws pulled out of the wood because they were so rusty the threads were mostly gone. An easy fix!

very nice example.. if someone wanted just one g24t this would be the one to grab IMHO.. your FTF listing does limit you quite a but though.. Shipping a rifle these days is a huge risk.

My G 24 T is in walnut too dou 42 3795 H.... great condition too - high 90's - I love 'em!

I was lucky enough to be the buyer on this rifle. I am going to add a few photos to this thread. It’s really nice undicked with original example. It has an awesome stock is in just great original condition. A really nice 1942
marked sling also came on it. I am really happy to now have it in my collection……
