It's a reweld with the maker's name engraved on it, yet the ATF paperwork lists the manufacturer as being the German government. Awkward.

Then there is this Maxim. The gun is marked with one maker, S&H, and one serial, 1220a, on damn near every part. The gun is registered as JPS 4063, with 4063 being stamped on both side plates, but nowhere else.

Hello,
WOW that guy us to lived down the road he was a local gunsmith probably a WWII DEWAT Mr carney passed away here several months ago. My only problem with this item is NY state has NOT been a class 3 state in over 60 years. to me the welds look VERY recent probably a recent DEWAT to LIVE conversion and paper work filed. I will ask a guy at work he new MR carney quite well I believe his name was Jim. I was told that the last Class 3 License expired in 1977 in NY.
