Duffel cut stock question

Hey guys, I have a question. I have a stock currently on one of my k98s that was duffel cut. My step dad had repaired it for the most part but seems to be coming loose. He took a piece of hollow all thread and screwed it together around where the cleaning rod is. My question is, what kind of glue do you all use? He used gorilla glue but it’s problem is it has a high expansion.

I send my duffel cuts to Champlin Firearms in Tulsa. He's a European who was trained as a gunsmith before coming here and his work is outstanding. On a split walnut Borsigwalde walnut stock, when I got it back all proofs were intact and the repair was practically undetectable. He isn't cheap and he's busy, but the wait is well worth it.

I contacted Champlin last month about fixing a duffle cut and they replied they were too busy to do the work.

Wow! Happy to hear that JJ is so busy. He has an excellent reputation so I'm not surprised. Don't know who else to recommend otherwise.

JUst went through the thread a little. You did great work on that. My stepdad tried a long time ago with gorilla glue and as you know that expands. I’ll have to get it cleaned back up to retry it. At least he used a tube where the cleaning rod goes. That’s clever drilling small holes for more glue to grab. Didn’t think of that.
