I picked up a 1944 DOU last night. I haven't cleaned the dust off it or that bit of surface rust. I'm interested in whatever thinks. It was a surprise find and I got it reasonably priced as part of a deal. I wasn't sure what the going rate on these was and so err'd on the side of caution. What month were thee produced?

It plays with what the guy I bought it from said. I know "never buy the story". His grandfather was in Europe 1944-45 brought back a bunch of guns, he had 2 lugers, nice Radom, CZ, p38. All were matching and nice. He just inherited them from his father. I just broke the rifle down.
Here is that pin Pisgah spotted.

Not drilled for a cleaning rod I assume. These transitional dou’s in the double letter suffix are really cool I think and that ones correct and sharp. I’ve got a couple and love them. Dou are underrated sleepers I think

Looks like someone tried to rivet the floorplate together, these are susceptible to separation at that location. There are multiple variations in how the spot welds were done in that location to prevent this issue.
Spot on. I tack welded on the inside one that was reblued awhile back.

When the lip of the floorplate seperates from the body of the floorplate it causes feeding issues as the spring and follower will sit too low to feed the rounds.

Nice rifle by the way!

Looks like a darn good Rifle.
Stock from the pics appears nice and I really like the color of that extractor.

That was one of the things that threw me when I saw it. The plum colored extractor. I had never seen one.

Could anyone tell me the month of manufacture of the ee block?
