Dot44 for over $4000?

Can someone please explain to me why a commonly found dot44 brings over $4,000 on GunBroker? Because I can clearly tell that stock is not original it has been cleaned and it looks like a type of finish have been rubbed on it. The stock stamps or a dead giveaway they almost look like they've been smeared over. Buttplate and bolt takedown disk also looks like they've been polished up as well.

People are just so fu*king Stupid.

An 1,800 dollar rifle, if it were right, goes for absolutely crazy money.

Well, let the new owner enjoy his " PRIZE".

Sooner or later he will notice the blood bubbles dripping out of his a$$, because he really got screwed.....

It’s getting worse and worse man.... especially on Gunbroker and especially with K98’s. It’s people with more money than brains.

It looks like a filter was used on these pics, giving everything a darker appearance.

What’s the saying, more dollars than sense? I guess the K98 market is pretty healthy and also pretty well off, and also pretty bad at research.

Makes my matching right down to the firing pin BYF ‘42 I just got this past March a steal for $2100. I posted it and got everyones approval. That warmed my heart. Sits on my mantle proudly.

That seller has always gotten insane money for his stuff. They are always from a 40 year collection and are always “Pristine”. Add in the fact that people seem to have more money than patience or sense lately and it’s a recipe for insanity on GB.

yea... $4100..? Crazy. Its suspect, there have been numerous threads here on this seller and his shady tactics. I've caught him before both humping and editing photos to remove blemishes--after seeing the guns he "fixed" at other autions before he got a hold of them. I used to do a lot of graphic arts work and this particular rifle's photos have been photoshopped 100% and poorly at that.

Its prices like these that keep new collectors like me priced out of the market. Thankfully we have a ethical collector community here to call BS like this out.

Oh, it's healthy all right... would it be bold of me to say that K98k's are the most sought after milsurp right now? People just want one of "those Nazi guns, with the war eagles and all!" It ranges from kids who use them in video games (I still love my games, I'm not harping on that lol) to older guys. I see people posting constantly about K98s on social media, more than any other single rifle.

And yes, the majority of people don't do any research.

Ah yes.. the WINNER. Bluegrass Armaments of Richmond, Ky. Margaret and Mark Brooks. Says $89,000 in annual revenue and 2 employees. Don't know them or of them however looking at their last 5 Gunbonker 'wins' over the last month and a half are ALL from GunsRC. It looks like to me their 'business model' is ridiculously overpaying for pimp shined, photoshopped items. They can't possibly be locally reselling these already overpriced items in Richmond, Ky?

If that subject rifle were utterly perfect (and it's not as pointed out) the price is between 1500-2000 too high.

So, HM, the “winners” are a gun shop in KY too, like the seller and they swung for the fence on the seller’s Gunbonker auctions 5 times already? Hmmmm.

So this guy just payed over 4K for it, what the hell is he going to resell it for?? Jesus, I need to check this guys store out...

So many suckers willing to pay ridiculous money for humped up crap it's no wonder they try to get outrageous sums of cash! Should call the site "Bend Over Buddy"

Buyer is in Richmond KY. Seller is in Waddy KY. 50 miles away. Nice little bidder's war between Bluegrass and the lucky loser the last minutes, $600 in the last 20 minutes. Other potential buyer bailed at $4100 so Bluegrass won it at $4101 with a bid made 3 minutes before other bidder.

Do you smell something?

I think that Peter guy with a feedback of 25 was a legit buyer but I think he got shelled by that other guy who won this rifle for over $4,000. I believe the seller of this auction probably thought that rifle was worth like $6,000 and kept trying to milk as much money as he could out of a guy and then the guy quit.

Indeed. Quite suspicious.

Maybe they were aware this was one of CB's rifles and it has a very neat TG group configuration... not sure such justifies a double premium though.

The TG is very rarely seen, at least so far as i have seen in this range, the FP is also rarely seen, but an "am" block has one (e/77 milled); but of course in this case it is right. Just goes to show Brno (dot & dou), while very consistent in ranges (bands-TG groups mfg and configurations) they do throw a curve ball once in awhile.
