Depot build pick up!

I can't seem to find the photo of the V26 rifle, but I did not add any to the book that I didn't confirm with a photo, if I find it I'll post it.

V26 is in the post here:

See #5. V26 is ZaUlm1 marked for whatever reason.

Ahh yes, and I see the number of builds doubled with V409.

Already mentioned but here are them as trended, all probable Geco barrels and a low number of observations. Pretty rare in any matching (originality) condition, though other depot builds are just as rare. Several have only one or two observation.

V26 (e/359 - Geco barrel)
V173 (BSW - probable Geco barrel) rc
V409 (BSW - Geco barrel) rc

Wow, the things that people find out of the woodwork makes me wish I was half as lucky as they are. Congratulations on finding such a nice depot rifle and a rare one at that!

The rifle is very fascinating. Though probably long forgotten may be worth asking the dealer who he acquired it from. You may be able to figure out who took it home.

When I wrote the chapter on depot builds several years ago, there was only 1 "V" depot build reported at that time - granted before then not many people paid attention to them or even understood what they were. I had 1 confirmed report of SN V26
It is pretty amazing how far the knowledge base has expanded. Your thoughts about these depot builds caused me to recall the barrel code thread on GB from a decade and a half ago that you were a part of. Even on the last page it was thought the supplier Si was Steyr and a year later over here Bruce nailed it.

Thanks everyone for the positive comments. I took another look at the stock with a flashlight this evening and did find a letter ”P” and the serial number on the under side of the stock. The serial number was difficult to photograph but can be seen at the bottom of the included photo.

The nut on the recoil lug should be easy enough to remove. I must just be hand/ finger tight. Find a tube shaped implement with rubber on the end push down and spin ccw.
