I am adding a data section to the Mauser sniper section and could use the following:

ZF41: Code year and serial, Presence or absence of E/135 on rear of ZF41 base

Low and High Turrets:

1. Low Turret - code year and serial number
2. High Turret
a. Code year and serial number
b. Presence of letter or symbol stamp on receiver tang
c. Checkered or non-checkered buttplate

That should do it.
If you feel your data is confidential, shoot it via email or PM.

My email: Bruce98k@hotmail.com

I have accumulated data but additional input is appreciated.

Thanks,
B.

sniper stuff

Bruce; High Turret 1945 Mauser # 1046 a , has a 0 on rear receiver tang. Checkered butte plate, late stock. Also have a ZF 41 Mauser BYF 44 #17867 i, no 135 proof on rear base. dow zf 40 41/1 marked scope. Regards Dave

Is it safe to assume you have all mine since they have all been extensively posted and reviewed here, one in the original book and others in old threads?

Data

Actually no Mike I do not.
My priority is the HT and establishing the presence of the tang stamp as
well as the start of the checkered buttplate.

My research has led me to the conclusion that the tang stamp is coincident with
the start of HT production.

The checkered buttplate comes in much later, certainly by the i block, but likely in
the 'g' or 'h' blocks but no earlier.

Remember this is for Oberndorf only and not JPS.

Hello,

between me and Dave Roberts we have a quite rare example of a BYF43 with BLC matching serials. now my rifle was heavily sported but still a matching BLC set I don't think a single book out there will have such an example PLEASE correct me if I am wrong. not sure if you want this kind of example in the book?

Current thread

If ex-snipers have data points that are usable we sure will take them.

B.

Since you had not asked for special details, I assume all years and even mismatching rifles (as long as the barrel/receiver assembly is original) are OK with the ZF41 data request? Please let me know, and I'll check with my rifles.

Current thread

Most important data will be original stock and action so even bolt MM ok.

Thanks,
Bruce

U on tang
U on front base
WaA135 on rear base - no asterisk

This a rescued rifle the deceased veteran was using as his deer rifle. Bolt and scope ring matches rifle; milled safety, cad scope. With the help of a relative of the veteran, we found the front band, band spring, and an uncheckered butt plate in a junk box in the vet's workshop. The original stock had been totally butchered, but I was able to find an unnumbered L block stock, so it looks correct.

Hi, Bruce!

Zf41-

ar42 1532d
No e135 (or anything) on base

High Turret-

byf44 33676k
"R" on tang
Restored, so no info on checkered buttplate (But is has one now!)

I can sure see how the "R" had been mistakenly called the "bunny stamp" years ago. I assume that is the case.
