CRA MG42 semi build

After having it for over 2 years now I finally sent my mg42 kit off to a builder a few hours from the house in Oklahoma. Shouldn’t be too much longer and very excited to get this one back. Any opinions on finish? The other 43 CRA’s I’ve seen were blued which is more so what I’m thinking. I know it’s less durable than cerakote but I’d like to get it period accurate like my other restorations.

Damn, that is fabulous! How's it being built? SA?

Duh. I see it's in the title. I agree on bluing.

Little update:
Some test fitting and bluing and it should be done and ready to be sent back. Really really excited for this one. I’m gonna need a sling and drum for this this before it shows up.

will have to dig up some pics of mine. If you dont have $60k collecting dust theyre a great alternative

Sadly this project has hit a bump in the road. My builder quoted me out another 4-6 weeks on my last post in January just to cancel on me a couple weeks ago. Due to his bucking bar breaking for the rivets install he won't be able to finish it and is sending it back to me. Wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how to proceed from here. Anybody done the rivets themselves?

Jared at Lewman Arms in Florida is the expert on Mg42/M53 builds. If you want it done right, he is the guy to reach out too.
Yes. I went through multiple clowns and actually had to file a lawsuit on one guy. This took place over the course of about 4 years. Finally just decided to suck it up and send it to Jared and had it back 3 weeks later. Can’t even tell where it was welded

That's one of the biggest issues with having one worked on or worse built. Lots of bad actors (whether intentional or not), nonexistent timelines and ridiculous costs.

Took three builders to make my two Semi-Brens - Jim Kelly at Ice House fixed the others guys mistakes.

Good luck with the MG42SA build.

It will be satisfying to shoot it when it finally arrives!
