Colonial KS98 bayonet

Hi all,

I've been wanting a "unique" piece of imperial german history for awhile, such as naval or colonial related items. Today I finally got one, a German South West Africa marked KS98! And my first KS98 bayonet as well, they are quite small and handy compared to the other German bayonets I have. It appears to have a replacement scabbard and the grips are in poor shape but for my first colonial bayonet I think I did decent, I mounted it on my WOK 1917 not quite what it would originally be mounted on but looks good for display!

Thanks Nathan

I am happy it finally found a good home. That used to be mine. I can confirm that is a replacement scabbard. I had a spare scabbard laying around. So I threw it on that bayonet. I also really enjoy the KS98 bayonet. Like what chris said, they are a good design and very handy. They are also a well balanced bayonet.

That's crazy it's the same one you use to own! Small world lol. I think so far this may be my favorite type of bayonet, I could definitely see this being really handy in the field. Any recommendations on how to preserve the leather grips from further deterioration? Or is just a stable environment the best bet for the leather?

So I used Griot's Garage leather care. I saw it used one time on gas monkey garage. They used it on leather car seats that were about 80 years. I use it on all of my leather stuff. From leather boots to slings. It is great stuff.
