Here is the other from the same guys collection.. This one is a straight up no letter block byf45 near un-fired. This one's in great shape less a really light coat of some sort of clear finish on the stock Im going to try to remove. This one has an astra werke bolt body at least and the rest of the parts are un-marked.
But, correctly serial numbered. Astra only had the bodies anyway. The sling is 44 dated and I cant make out the 3 letter code. There seems to have been altot of zf41's and high turrets made in this no letter block in 1945.

Interesting! the first late war K that I ever bought (in the mid 80s) was a byf 45 ZF41, serial number #29847. It was also my first semi phosphate - has a mixed blued and phosphate finish, all matching and is somewhere at the back of one of my safes, as I store then earliest at the back and just fill up slots as new ones are aquired

I have seen well over a 1/2 dozen each zf41 and high turrets in the 5 digit range byf45 and that's just me looking.. There was either a big push for them or they figured they would use all the parts before the war ended ??

From the pics it appears correct , although it appears IMHO the stock has been sanded . My BYF45 ZF41 is also a no letter block Ser#44XX . Best Regards

I once read on a German forum that someone found documents suggesting that all of the late byf44 L block and byf45 ZF41 guns were built for the Volksturm. Couldn't ever find any documents to prove it, but it makes some sense as older men have worse eyesight, and by this time the Germans considered the ZF41 as an aiming aid and not a scope. I agree with Dave that this one has the chatter knocked off if it, pretty typical for GI's to want them pretty.

beautiful byf 45 zf41 ,very nice
one question:there is a logo rw on the safety ?
best regards

thanks. I can certainly look. The rear sight leaf has one as shown. These late Mauser used bolts can be from near anywhere.. They used whatever they could get apparently .
