Byf44 ZF41 with odd eagle

I recently acquired a nice K98k byf44 with zf41 rail .It's in the e letter block . The odd thing it's a small eagle punched near the mounting rail , where you normally can find the WaA135 . In my opinion it's a transitional marking in the 1944 byf zf41 production : until the c letter block you found the 135 , and from the L letter block there is nothing more punched there , my K98k it's in the middle . Any other know speciment like this ?

That's a tough one Antonio .. sorry, can't tell you, never seen before. But great to see we still are to find some new details!

I would bet the inspector grabbed the wrong punch out of his box, both similar size and general appearance when not under the microscope. We see number errors all the time, so why not.

Hello,

I have examples in the database all the way till k (K) block with ZF-41 E135 Proof, disappears in the l (L) block.

Later
