byf Sniper - any red flags?

Hello everyone,
An estate seller guy turned this BYF sniper up and has big dollar dreams if he sends it to Rock Island or somewhere. He doesn’t want to ship it, and is open to offers.

My question is, at first glance, and from these photos, are there any red flags that say I should run? Thank you very much in advance!

From the limited pics it looks like a nice example. Obviously the windage knob will need to be replaced

I agree everything looks correct from the photos posted, you will need more photos or hands on to verify. As was stated above, the elevation dial is missing. I have never seen scope covers serialed to a rifle before.

I don't know if all serial numbers match, but aside of the lacking elevation adjustment disc it looks marvellous.

I do not see anything thats concerning from these limited photos . More detailed pics would help .

Another thing a lot of people don't know if you do sell items at Rock Island they take a large percentage of the auction proceedings. Plus they send a copy of your auction listings to the IRS. So you would also have to pay income tax to the feds.

I know a couple people that sold small portions of their collections there and they ended up paying income tax on what money they made.

Please post more detailed pictures. You are going to want to see all the numbered parts. So far it looks good but the pictures are not the best. Good luck, looks promising.

Get pics of all the numbered parts on the metal (plus the stock and handguard if you feel comfortable. doing it). A couple good pics of the butt plate and safety are useful.

Thanks for the comments and PMs. Since my original post, the estate sale guy got an “appraisal” and now has really big dollar signed in his eyes. At this point he is consulting with the family about their next move.

All visible numbers do match by the way.

I’ll advise their next move and if they stay with the auction idea, I’ll post as to where it goes to be on the block.

Your rifle looks awesome! I am a novice to this, but enjoy it. I just won two at a rock island auction. Im not sure of how much they are really worth, but to me, they are priceless since I always wanted one.

“Not sure how much they are really worth” and drops 4K on two put togethers. I dont understand this world anymore.
