Nice condition rifle. Interesting to see those tooling marks on top of the scope rail. Something about the stock looks off to me. Maybe sanded or at the very least heavily cleaned? I can't see much chatter in the stock but perhaps this is because it is a contractor stock. Thanks for sharing.

Edit: can you post a picture of the rifle action in the stock from the left side at the scope rail? I'd like to see the scope rail cut in the stock.

I will post more photos tomorrow. Stock is definitely not sanded and there is a grove for the scope mount. Thanks

Hot damn, that is one gorgeous rifle. I'd be happy to even see a nice one in person, let alone own like this. Congrats on getting such a fine one!

Thanks for the reply. Could you explain, I am not sure I know the difference.
IMG_4119.jpegAlso the band across the top of the receiver. Usually there was none or one fully across. This has a partial. This is seen on many BYF 45’s.

Beautiful!

Also proves that milled floor plates were used right up until the end of the war.

I have an ac 45 K43, also in unissued condition. The stock looks the same, new, no chatter. I posted pics of it on these boards and several people jumped in to say that the stock had been heavily sanded. This, even though the inside of the stock is exactly the same as the outside.

I have an unissued bcd 4 98K, in the same unissued condition. I've noticed that the stocks can be found stained, unstained, and with and without chatter. Again, a smooth stock does not mean it's been sanded.
