Byf 45 rescue/restoration. Best way to remove paint from stock?

I purchased this barreled receiver off gunboards a couple months back and have been slowly piecing it back together. Found what I believe to be a byf 44 L block bolt a couple stamped parts that are semi correct and finally scored this sporterized white glue kreigsmodell stock off flea bay. Has mauser 98 painted on the side of the stock. bummer. Stock is cut down just behind the FRONT band so it isnt a full duffel cut. Actually has the screw hole still present for the rear band. Stock is not sanded and has two nice cartouches with late war cross bolt. Im still under $430 with this restoration so im quite pleased!

Looking good, need to find the right trigger guard set too and it will be really nice! You need to find a way to get that painting off the side, gently. I'd try a gentle solvent first, it may not be paint.

Hows this? Better? I already had this and forgot  i have gently flaked off some of the paint with my fingernail. I think it might be white out actually haha.

Nice resto! Trigger guard should be byf or svw marked with 2 e/135 acceptance. The floor plate you have looks correct. (Maybe your tg is as well but I can't make out the markings)

Yes, good luck. It doesn't look like paint to me either. For $430. I think you're way ahead of the game. IMO it has the potential to be a nice resto
