byf 44 L block

This is one of the Mausers I retrieved recently. I have posted photos of it before but it has been a while. This is one of the first 5-10 Mausers I purchased. I found it in a Gunlist ad for $250 or something like that back in the 1990's then picked it up in person. It came with a sling that is as new as the rifle but I haven't put the two back together yet. I didn't realize just how nice it was when I bought it. I understood it was in decent condition, but I didn't really realize that it would be impossible to upgrade. I have purchased some nice byf 44 's since then, but none as nice as this one

That's an awesome rifle, probably damn near impossible to upgrade from this one!

The Germans stained the stock once it was fully assembled, including the sling. That is why the sling slot is unstained. You can see stain on the butt plate as well as on the back of the cocking piece.

Amazing c stock example! I’ve always loved the sintered upper bands and they go so well on a nice c stock. FN bolt?

Very nice L block.. A little later than the one's posted when I posted mine. The JPS and C stocks are finished a little finer than most during this period.. L blocks are fun to me due to the fact very few are alike.
