I found a byf 43 mauser everything is in good condition bore is good but the gun is not a matching numbers its a Russian capture the stock and the receiver numbers match but through the neck of the stock there a nut and bolt insert and the trigger guard has a empty hole there like made for a sling keep in mind that the hole in the stock is in the neck not behind like vz but could this be a 98k with czech parts and if so do you think it came out of the factory like that . also 250.00 seams like a good price to me let me know what you think.

unless you want to shoot it i'd forget it. look on the auctions sights for an all original one. still kicking myself in the a$$ for missing a nice all original dot 44 that sold for $700 on gunbroker.

I do plan on shooting this but help me understand a mauser rifle in good condition good bore ,good wood and bluing why would 250 not be a good price what is the big deal with matching numbers I would rather have a missed match in good condition they a tard with matching numbers and when I have found a nice looking one with matching numbers its very pricey is the matching numbers just a collecting thing as you can tell I am new to this mauser thing I just enjoy shooting any help under standing this would be welcome . thanks Rick

Stock modification with bolt is meant to repair cracking, not done by the Germans during WW2. The trigger guard probably comes from a Gew98 rifle- Russian Capture rifles are a mix of different rifles from different eras thrown in a pile and refinished and reassembled with no care taken to keep 98k parts with Gew98 parts or even Kar98a parts. The price is good, buy it.

Thanks some much for your answers I love shooting these old things I think this is turning into a fun hobby!
