Bolt body id?

there is such a “B” as that marked on BSW parts starting in ‘38. any e#s on it anywhere? (hoping for an e/4)
this pic stolen from the reference section…….

Looks JP Sauer to me… the “h” and the small FP
more Bs

more Bs

It’s JPS for me. The suffix and the fonts….. here are pics of a couple of my rifles. I could probably dig up a few more. One has a B and I’ve seen this plenty of times on JPS bolts. I also have one with a small lowercase “a” next to the trademark JP Sauer firing proof. All of my bolts in this set do not proofing on the bottom of the bolt root.

A couple more of mine but one has 1 e/37 on bottom and the other has two e/37s so look to be earlier war bolts.

BSW bolts should be really well-finished. You should barely have machining marks on the bolt root flats imo. The OP’s looks to be maybe a mid war - later bolt where proofing was discarded. I may be wrong though…. I guess we will see when others chime in.

have to agree that bsw bolts show better finish, & when I just pulled mine apart (on a ‘37 bsw parts rifle) there’s no B next to the fp on the back of the handle, but 2 e/4 & a B on the underside. tho like the one I posted above from the reference, the rest of it is covered w/Bs. the 37 has Weimar proofs so I can’t compare size of fps. my bolt body looks to be Norwegian used, the top flat is ground & remarked ‘.028’ which is how they designated just the last 3 digits.

Did any postwar users re mark the bolt proofs?
