Bogus SS markings

As I continue to pull stuff out of storage to dispose of, I found this. Bought it many years ago when the East European imports were coming in .
I don’t know anything about SS markings and just wanted to confirm these marks are fake.

The rifle is a S/147 code, 1937 dated Sauer

Posting this in the interest of full disclosure.

Follow up on this rifle. It is now listed on an auction site, it is not my listing. When I moved it I was clear I believed the markings
were fake. The dealer (01 FFL) said he has a guy who he would have check it. I don’t know what advice he was given by that individual. I have had several transactions with this dealer and believe him to be a straight up guy. To be fair, In the very brief description he says the markings may be fake. Perhaps I am being to picky as he never claims them to be real. In the interest of being upfront with everyone, especially a potential buyer I am going to go see him Monday and request that he change the description to the markings are believed to be fake and any bidder should assume they are.

Again I am not throwing shade at this dealer, I think most of his business is gunsmithing, not collectibles.

Man if I had a dollar for every time I heard that BS. It seems like 100 out of 100 'the guy' is wrong. And not a little bit wrong either.

I drove over to the shop this morning and told the owner I had no doubt the markings were fake. He told me the guy he had talked to worked at Navy Arms when these were imported and he knew that some number of rifles had these marks when they entered the US, based on that, in his original description he stated he didn’t know if they were fake or not.
I told him I trusted those who had told me they were fake.
He was said if I was that confident, he would change the description and delete any reference to it being an SS rifle in the auction heading.
There were no existing bids, so anyone who chooses to bid now knows what he is getting.

As I said in a previous post, I have found this guy to be straight up in his dealings. He even thanked me for bringing this to his attention.

Nicely done… not everyone would have the integrity to follow up like that. Especially nice to post it here, where a likely buyer might be lurking!
