I have a couple questions about this rifle. The barrel band screws look like pan head machine screws but have the same finish as the bands. Has anyone observed similar screws used instead of the wood screws? The bolt is not matching and here is a circled z on the safety which I interpret as a Czech part. Was the circled z used on war manufactured rifles? I would appreciate any thoughts and comments on this rifle and observations of any irregularities in its configuration. The bore is bright and shows little if any use.

I just realized I posted this in the 1945 postwar forum. Is there anyway I can tag this for the war period?

Yes, screws are the wrong type. Should have said that, finish is inconsequential.

The circle z does denote a Czech part. There's an ongoing discussion in regards to those parts in particular. Czech 😁 it out.
Yea indeed, and here is a rifle that might help us decide firmly whether or not “circle Z” parts are wartime or not.

OP can you please take photos of the rest of the bolt and show any and all markings on the parts? Thank you! Very cool rifle by the way.

Many thanks!

Here are a couple. I will take some more.

Any thoughts about why the screws are not correct? Did someone pick up the gun with no screws and felt a need to add them perhaps? Do you th the original screws might have been lost and then replaced with whatever was at hand?

I have owned several out of the closet guns with no screws. I have 1 right now - but usually people bought hardware store screws and blued/installed them.

Thanks for your expertise. Would you recommend that I replace these screws with repros; originals; remove them, or leave as is?
