I am looking to add a K98 to my small military collection. I am looking for feedback on auction sites ie.. Gunbroker and some others, are they to be avoided ? Any suggestions on places preferred to buy from. I am not lookin for a $900+ all matching one just a $400+ beater that shoots well.

You can most likely find one right here on this site, in the trader section. These guys are honest and know their stuff.

Yes, by all means check the trader forum. There are always great rifles/deals to be had for shooter grade rifles. I have a really nice non import, but non matching byf44 with a superb bore I'd let go. But do a little research here and get a feel for the rifles and prices.

A beginner should show the folks around here what they are looking at. You will get honest opinions. K98k collecting is like walking through a minefield these days.

Those here pretty much know the other site. It's not allowed to post links to live auction here though. Those other sites CAN be good sources for rifles/deals but the amount of fraud and fakery with these rifles is out of control so the danger of spending too much on a fake rifle is a real problem. just get to know the rifles or ask someone here like myself if you find something you want vetted.

Well live 'auction' links are, but sales from online stores or brick and mortar stores would be ok. You can also post some photos without the auction link if you have a question about one you're looking at.

Agree with all above, this is the place to be and the trader is the place to find ANY and all legit K98 needs. You’ve come to the right place!

Your garden variety mismatch Russian Capture import. No loss for missing that one. There are plenty out there. just avoid getting into a bidding war and you'd be fine. They are overpriced from where I sit. They should not sell for over $600 in my opinion but they do often.

Fair price for it. Looks like it's "as imported" and not cherry picked for parts. I'm guilty of that. Had 30 or so RC rifles over the years that I picked for the stock, parts or actions then sold off what I didn't want. That CE 43 looks left alone.
